Chairman, Efficient Market Services Limited
(Operator of securities trading platform, Unlisted)
Cognitus, in conjunction with Glenn Boyle (ISCR, Victoria University of Wellington), prepared an economic appraisal of the arguments presented by the Minister of Commerce in support of the registration of Unlisted under the Securities Markets Act 1988.
Not only did the appraisal form the cornerstone of our successful rebuttal of the case for registration in 2005, but also supported our successful application for an exemption from the licensing provisions of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 in 2015.
The material was prepared subject to a strict timing and budget constraint and was of the highest professional standard, sustaining the expert scrutiny of officials and opponents to the Unlisted business case both in 2005 and 2015. Quality endures.
Trust Manager, WEL Energy Trust
Richard Meade was recommended to me by our Trust Chair who had attended an Electricity Trust’s of New Zealand (ETNZ) conference, and had rated him as “absolutely speaker of the conference”.
WEL Energy Trust engaged Richard to provide a tailored presentation to the Trust on key technology changes and businesses challenges/opportunities these raise for lines companies.
The presentation was both engaging and pitched at exactly the right level, enabling Trustees to explore aspects directly relevant to our situation. The presentation has helped inform the development of our new 5 year strategic plan and bold new Mission that will guide the Trust into the future.
Principal Advisor, New Zealand Productivity Commission
We commissioned Richard to explore relevant economic theory and evidence to help understand the delivery of social services.
He produced a high-quality piece of work that drew on his broad and deep knowledge of microeconomic theory and its application to real-world behaviour and problems. This piece, and our contact with Richard during this work, stimulated useful insights for our inquiry into social services.
